Murder Road by Simone St. James blog tour

Image
Murder Road review: You ever read a book from an author and immediately know you need more from them? But simotaneously don't want to finish all their books because you won't have any left? Yeah, that's me with Simone St. James. I have had The Broken Girls on my shelf since it came out and I'm scared to read it because I know I'm bound to love it so much. Irrational, I know. But will I ever stop? Nope. Did I also collect her backlist in its entirety? Yep. Have I read those? Nope. It's a sickness, ya'll. But when I do decide to go in, I won't stop till I've devoured her entire catalog. I think 2024 might be the year. I feel it in my bones. In March 2020, I read The Sun Down Motel and loved it. That was a month into it's release (Feb 2020). Then The Book of Cold Cases came out in March 2022 and sounded so up my alley I couldn't read it fast enough. True crime blogger? Um, yep, totally my brand. For some reason, this one didn't work for me

December TBR

Image
December 2017 TBR I got goals....I got goals...in different area (genres) codes...I got goals. So, I know this is a tad ambitious. 9 books. I did get 8? I think read last month so I'm optimistic. I have no specific order I'm reading these in but I did start with White Bodies . 3 of my choices are for book clubs, a couple are ARC's I need to get done, one is a "classic" Animal Farm , and the other's I've been wanting to read for awhile!  One of my 2018 goals is to read more of my books off my "Classics" shelf. Some are actual classics and some I've deemed classic because of the year they were written in.  So what are you reading this December? See anything on your list?

The Wife Between Us

Image
The Wife Between Us ★★★★★/5 OH SHIT, that epilogue!!!  Psychological thriller done so, so right! Ooooo lordy, lordy, lordy. This book was a breath of fresh air after trying to read The Sinner. So the book begins with a young woman named Nellie who is engaged to a man named Richard. Richard is a well-established, generous man. Nellie is trying to move on from her past, eluding to a dark secret from her past (that you later learn more about). She feels safe with Richard...except why does it feel like someone is following her and where are these hang-up calls coming from?  We also meet the other woman, Vanessa. Richard's ex. It seems Richard has found a new PYT in Nellie. Vanessa is just trying to get back on her feet and get over him, but struggling. Does she want him back or is there a reason she is acting so odd?  This book was written in a form that I'm not sure I've ever read before. I don't want to go into detail and spoil it but I will say you may be pleasa

Nov Book Club Reads

Image
For several months, I've been wanting to join in on a few of the #bookstagram book clubs. This month, I had 3/3 of the book clubs books already purchased so I finally had to give in! This month for #SaltWaterReads they chose Lie To Me  and for #BlackHeartsReads they chose Exquisite . I had an ARC of Lie To Me  begging to be read, so I chose it first. I'm hoping I like Exquisite more than Lie To Me 🙈 Lie To Me ★★✰/5 So this was ok. I was about halfway through when it finally picked up for me. I know the characters were meant to be un-likeable. I usually like those characters, but Ethan and Sutton just didn't keep me interested. This one reminded me too much of Gone Girl, but sadly not in a good way. And did anyone else get a bad vibe early on? I just felt like this book tried to go above and beyond the crazy and it was a bit much for me. Lately it feels like there is an influx of these type of thrillers. They each seem to want to out-crazy the

Library Haul

Image
I had gone on a hiatus from the Library since we moved and I'm no longer in short walking distance. I tried to tell myself I didn't need it for awhile, that I have a stack of hundreds of unread books that deserve attention. I found myself browsing on Amazon and adding these book and many others to my cart. I checked out, then 2 minutes later canceled my order. I knew Ben would be mad at me if I bought more books again, and to be fair I didn't "need" them. So I ventured onto the Library site and found that these 3 were available almost immediately. I couldn't help myself, my bookstagram friends were talking about these ones and I had to give into the hype! So far I've made it through 2/3 of my haul and will likely finish the 3rd book this weekend. I didn't mean to, but I ordered them in the photo in the order that I've read them. So let's break it down here for my first official book review (which I will update when I finish There's Someo
